How Rose Essence/Ruh Gulab is Distillation through traditional process's ?
The process commences before sunrise as freshly picked Damask roses are collected and brought to distilleries on the same day. The flowers are placed in large copper pots (Degs/Dhegs) with a small amount of cold water. A fire is then kindled beneath the pots, usually using wood or dung, and the water is boiled for five to six hours.
As the water vaporizes, it releases the essential oils of the roses, which subsequently condense and flow down bamboo pipes (Chonga) into a receiver pot known as Bhapka(receiver pot).
